Do you know why you need to sleep in your mosquito nets every night?
Malaria is among the most killing diseases in Rwanda and all over our African continent. Here are some facts about Malaria, retrieved from the World Health Organization (www.who.org):
Approximately 90% of Rwandans are at risk of Malaria.
Malaria is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in Rwanda; responsible for up to 50% of all outpatient visits.
In 2005, Rwanda reported 991,612 Malaria cases.
In 2006, Malaria was responsible for 37% of outpatient consultations and 41% of hospital deaths, of which 42% were children under five years of age.
In Kepler, 4 malaria cases were reported in July, 2015.
You may not want to sleep in your bed nets because it's hot, but this might be a chance for you to easily get contaminated because the disease worsens /increases with the increase in temperature. So, prevention is better than cure. You were give mosquito nets to prevent you from Malaria.
