NextGen leaders workshop happening in Kigali
During this workshop, participants will gain an understanding of the current policy and political landscape of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) in their region and across the globe, and develop strategies on how to drive policy and systems change. The workshop is designed with you in mind-- it will deliver the tools to lead advocacy and action on NCDs, while providing the technical knowledge and evidence you will need to lead lasting improvements in policy for health.
This workshop will bring together a diverse group of 45 young advocates from across Eastern Africa to learn from experienced advocates, researchers and policy experts. We will also work together, across countries and disciplines, to develop national and regional strategies toward mobilizing efforts to hold our governments accountable to the global commitments they made at the United Nations in 2011 and through the Sustainable Development Goals.
The primary focus of this workshop will be to learn skills and create strategies to build accountability of governments and other stakeholders to deliver on their national commitments for NCDs, with focus on outcomes toward the 2018 United Nations High-level Review on NCDs.
