Housing Changes
Hi All,
As Kepler moves to a more financially sustainable model, student housing will no longer be provided free of cost to Kepler students. We will be instituting an opt in/opt out program for all students after the foundational year. The following are the rules of eligibility for ALL students after the Foundational Year:
Eligibility – Due to continued learning about what happens when students leave housing for internships and jobs, there have been updates to the eligibility of housing.
i. Students are eligible for 3 years of housing maximum (Cohort 2013 exempted).
ii. Students who are in a job that has a more than 6 month contract and is making more than 200,000 RWF net per month will not be eligible for housing.
iii. Students who are in a job where housing is provided and they have a more than 6-month contract will also not be eligible for student housing.
As this is a new policy change, please note the following for each cohort below:
Cohort 2013 – will be required to pay if they opt in to housing in 2016-17 and they will need to pay for housing on a monthly basis. Housing eligibility rules as outlined above apply.
Cohort 2014 – has the option to pay for housing via student loan or opt out of housing. They can also choose to work as an RA. Housing eligibility rules as outlined above apply.
Cohort 2015 – has the option to pay for housing via student loan or opt out of housing. Some students, depending on academic success and character, can work as an RA. Housing eligibility rules as outlined above apply.
The hiring process for Resident Advisors (RAs) will be made in early May. Please look for announcements on Keep Up, Kepler. RAs will be selected from the pool of students who have opted into housing.
Best,
Carolyn
