First National Inter-University Female Debate Competition

On Friday 30th October, Akilah Institute of women hosted the Quater finals, Semi-finals and finals of the 1st ever, National Inter-university Female Debate Competition, with the best nine teams of debaters, representing public and private universtiies from all across the country. On this occasion, Kepler joined the competition as one of the teams representing Kigali.
After a very challenging experience through the Quater finals, Kepler team beat the host, akilah intitute of women, and made it to the finals.

The "finale" of the debate competition engaged Kepler vs UR-College of Science, with the British High Comissioner as the guest of honor. A merciless battle that wedged between the two teams had Kepler emerge as the 1st runner up with silver medals and a cash prize of Rwf 150, 000. The UR college of science took the trophy, gold medals and a cash prize of Rwf 200, 000. Akilah emerged as the 2nd runner up with bronze medals and a cash prize of Rwf 100, 000. Nevertheless, the whole event remains an interesting victory for the Kepler team for making it to the finals.

The Kepler ladies consider their unique victory as a promice that they can and will achieve great things in future. Linda, one of the Kepler team members shared " This experience was to me a proof that I can speak my mind infront of a big audience and make a point. Being the first runner up is more that our team had hoped for. It was a first time experience for all of us to participate in such a big competition with more than worthy competitors. Now that we know we can win, we intend to make it our legacy."
