Featured Student (Jean Nshimiyimana)
Featured Student: Jean Nshimiyimana
This week’s featured student is Jean Nshimiyimana, the elected Kepler SGA President. Keep Up Kepler conducted an interview with the students' leader and below are some notes from the interview:
KUK Editor: What motivated you to run for the SGA President Post?
Jean: Before being elected, I wanted to become a voice for students in different administration activities with such a confidence that I can connect students and staff. Now that I won the elections, my motivations are the same goal that I had before the election of becoming a voice for the students and their trust though voting me.
KUK Editor: What do you anticipate to be challenging about this position?
Jean: Challenges can’t miss, but there should be a way out when people collaborate. Two things can be challenging: when students don’t cooperate with me to know their problems, and when staff don’t understand students’ problems. However, I hope that it will not be the case. I am and will always be available for both students and staff to know what I can help them with.
KUK Editor: What do you intend to achieve or help the school to achieve as a result of your work?
Jean: I addition to protecting and proclaiming students’ rights and allowing them to participate in decision-making. I want to raise awareness of Kepler through students’ activities that will help them to interact with others from other different universities. That will be achieved if students start interacting friendly here at Kepler, all cohorts working together in activities that will enable them to interact.
KUK Editor: What is one thing you would like the community to learn about you?
Jean: It might be hard to say one thing, but I like to see change from one point below to a higher one. If people are active, collaborative, responsible, with a vision and determination to achieve it, there is nothing they can’t achieve. No matter how many challenges they face, they will be able to overcome them.
I hope Kepler community, students and staff have a vision, and are determined to achieve them, and that they are responsible. Collaboration will be an additional asset to achieve even beyond.
KUK Editor: Thank you for meeting us, and good luck with your responsibilities.
Jean: Thank you so much
