Kepler in the Quarterfinals of the Female Debate Competition
Kepler team in the Female Debate Competition at the Independent University of Kigali
Last Friday, October 23rd, through the rough journey that took three Keplerian young ladies, Sandrine Ishimwe, Liza Imbonabake and Linda Kirezi, to the Quarter finals of the National Female Debate Competition, anxiety, stress and fear were on the menu, but fun and victory too.
Breath held and fingers crossed, the three young ladies listened intently as they were announced winners in 1st position with 2736 accumulated points throughout the four rounds they debate against KIST, KIE, KIM and IPRC consecutively.
Each of the ladies managed to qualify as the best speaker in the first three rounds against KIST, KIM and KIE. With the support of their debate coach and fellow debate club members, they won all the debate rounds and qualified Kepler to participate in the quaterfinals that will take place this Friday, 30th. This time, they will be competing against different universities from all across the country in addition to the four they were against in Kigali.
"It was a tight competition, but one that was worth it in order to prove that Kepler has able female public speakers" says Liza. "We hope that our victory will inspire more ladies to join the debate team and show what they are made of."
It is expected that if the Kepler female team wins the quaterfinals, semifinals and finals of this competition, they will be awarded debate trainings in Ghana. But prize or not, this is a major step Keplarian ladies made to make Kepler shine nation-wide. They look forward to the support of all of the Keplarian community to win the upcoming challenge.
